They took control in the middle set, only conceding one point before claiming the lead and eventually securing the set.
In another quarterfinal match, the wild-card entry of Leylah Fernandez from Canada and the tennis icon Venus Williams ended as they were defeated by top-seeded Taylor Townsend from the U.S. and Katerina Siniakova from the Czech Republic with a 6-1, 6-2 scoreline.
Dabrowski and Routliffe capitalized on their opportunities, converting two out of four break chances, while Babos and Stefani struggled, managing to convert only three out of eight. The Canadian-Kiwi pair will face the winner of the match between Sara Errani and Jasmine Paolini of Italy and the team of Asia Muhammad from the U.S. and Demi Schuurs from the Netherlands in the next round.
Carlos Alcaraz of Spain advanced to the semifinals after defeating Jiri Lehecka 6-4, 6-2, 6-4 in the quarterfinals. Alcaraz, at just 22 years old, showcased his skills and is set to face Novak Djokovic in the next round.
