Canadian Wayne Middaugh Inducted into World Curling Hall of Fame

Wayne Middaugh, a prominent figure in Canadian curling, has been honored with induction into the World Curling Hall of Fame. Hailing from Brampton, Ontario, Middaugh holds a unique achievement as the sole athlete to secure world men’s titles in three distinct roles. His accolades include claiming gold in 1993 in Geneva, Switzerland, as the second for Russ Howard, leading Canada to victory in 1998 in Kamloops as the skip, and securing another title in 2012 in Basel, Switzerland, while playing as the third/vice-skip for Glenn Howard. Additionally, he proudly represented Ontario in ten different Briers competitions.

Middaugh’s exceptional career, marked by numerous successes, was recognized when he was previously inducted into the Canadian Curling Hall of Fame in 2020. This recognition came after his illustrious career faced a setback due to a skiing injury in 2016. Alongside Middaugh, Finland’s Olli Rissanen, who served as a prominent figure in his country’s curling federation for over two decades, and Sweden’s Team Peja Lindholm, a quartet that clinched three world championships and participated in three Olympics, were also inducted into the Hall of Fame during the same ceremony.
