“South Korea to Repatriate Detained Workers from US”

South Korea has concluded discussions with the United States regarding the detained Korean workers in Georgia, as confirmed by a presidential official on Sunday. The presidential chief of staff, Kang Hun-sik, mentioned in a televised statement that a plane will be dispatched to repatriate the Koreans once the necessary administrative procedures are finalized.

A significant enforcement operation took place this week at a Hyundai Motor manufacturing facility in Georgia, orchestrated by U.S. federal agents. This operation marked the largest single-site enforcement action in the history of the Department of Homeland Security’s investigative operations, with the majority of the individuals detained being Korean nationals.

Recently, South Korea sealed a substantial trade agreement with the U.S., which includes a $350 billion US fund designated to support Korean companies entering the American market.

According to CNN’s report on Saturday, U.S. President Donald Trump is anticipated to attend the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation event in South Korea this October, as indicated by three Trump administration officials. In response to the immigration raid incident, the South Korean government plans to explore avenues for enhancing the visa system for Korean workers traveling to the U.S. to prevent similar occurrences.
