Sarah Mitton Triumphs in Shot Put at World Athletics Continental Tour

Sarah Mitton showcased her shot put prowess by winning the World Athletics Continental Tour Gold meet in Beijing, throwing 19.81 meters. She outperformed competitors like Fanny Roos of Sweden (19.35) and Zhang Linru of China (19.05). Mitton bounced back from a recent setback where she lost her Diamond League Trophy due to a technicality in her winning throw in Zürich.

Mitton, a seasoned athlete, is gearing up for her fourth world championships, having previously secured notable placements in past events. She expressed determination to prove herself as the best thrower globally, despite the Trophy disqualification and loss of prize money.

On the other hand, Andre De Grasse made a strong return to the track after a hamstring issue, finishing third in the men’s 100m race with a time of 10.16 seconds. This race marked his fourth appearance this season and his first at the National Stadium in Beijing since his bronze medal win in 2015.

De Grasse is now preparing for the upcoming World Athletics Championships, where he aims to build on his past successes. The Canadian team is set to include four defending champions, showcasing a strong lineup of athletes ready to compete at the highest level. The championships are scheduled to take place from September 13-21, with high expectations for the Canadian contingent’s performance.
