Felix Auger-Aliassime will not be participating in the upcoming Davis Cup tie for Canada following an announcement made by Tennis Canada on Saturday. The Davis Cup event, part of the World Group I, is scheduled to occur on September 12-13 in Halifax.
Hailing from Montreal, Auger-Aliassime recently concluded a commendable performance at the U.S. Open, reaching the semifinals as the 25th seed. In the semifinal match on Friday, he was defeated by the top-ranked player in the world, Jannik Sinner from Italy, in a four-set match.
This marked Auger-Aliassime’s second semifinal appearance at a Grand Slam event and his first since reaching the same stage at the U.S. Open in 2021. The 25-year-old managed to secure victories against prominent players like third-seeded Alexander Zverev, No. 15 seed Andrey Rublev, and eighth-seeded Alex de Minaur before facing Sinner in the semifinals.
