Auger-Aliassime Rises to 13th in ATP Rankings

Canada’s Felix Auger-Aliassime has risen to the 13th spot in the global rankings following his impressive performance in the men’s singles semifinals at the U.S. Open. Auger-Aliassime, who previously reached a career-best ranking of 6th in 2022, has now climbed 14 positions and retains his position as the top-ranked Canadian male player. The 25-year-old athlete from Montreal achieved his first Grand Slam semifinal since the 2021 U.S. Open after defeating notable players like Alexander Zverev, Andrey Rublev, and Alex de Minaur before succumbing to then-world No. 1 Jannik Sinner in a four-set match.

The U.S. Open men’s final saw tournament champion Carlos Alcaraz dethroning Sinner and claiming the No. 1 ranking. Meanwhile, Denis Shapovalov from Richmond Hill, Ont., moved up three places to secure the 26th position after reaching the third round, while Gabriel Diallo from Montreal dropped to the 35th spot following an early exit in the second round.

Carlos Alcaraz reclaimed the top spot in the ATP rankings for the first time in two years after his victory over Sinner in the U.S. Open final. Amanda Anisimova also excelled in the WTA rankings, jumping five places to a career-best 4th position after finishing as the runner-up to Aryna Sabalenka. Alcaraz expressed his joy in achieving his set goals for the year, highlighting his win at Flushing Meadows as a significant milestone in his career. The victory propelled him back to the No. 1 ranking, displacing Sinner and marking his sixth Grand Slam triumph. Alcaraz’s remarkable journey to the top spot began in 2022 when he became the youngest No. 1 in ATP history at just 19 years old.

In the women’s category, Sabalenka secured her position as the No. 1 player by clinching her second consecutive U.S. Open title with a victory over Anisimova. Anisimova’s impressive performance in back-to-back major finals propelled her to the 4th rank, showcasing her remarkable comeback from a mental-health break. The rankings also saw notable movements, with Novak Djokovic ascending to the 4th spot after his semifinal loss to Alcaraz, and Naomi Osaka climbing to the 14th position following her semifinal appearance at the U.S. Open.
