“Canada’s Short Track Speed Skating Team Ready for World Tour”

Canada’s 12-member short track speed skating team for the upcoming World Tour campaign features national champions Courtney Sarault and William Dandjinou at the forefront.

The team also includes familiar faces such as two-time relay champion Florence Brunelle, 2022 Olympic champion Maxime Laoun, Danaé Blais, Félix Roussel, Kim Boutin, Rikki Doak, Steven Dubois, Jordan Pierre-Gilles, Ann-Sophie Bachand, and Mathieu Pelletier.

Despite dealing with injuries during the national championship, Kim Boutin, Rikki Doak, Steven Dubois, and Jordan Pierre-Gilles secured spots on the team. The young talents Ann-Sophie Bachand and Mathieu Pelletier complete the roster.

These athletes will vie for a chance to represent Canada at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milano-Cortina and will participate in the ISU Short Track World Tour circuit during the 2025-26 season.

Cindy Klassen still holds the Canadian record for most medals at a single Olympics when she brought home 5 from Torino 2006. Here she shares a story with former teammate Anastasia Bucsis about what she needed to do before that 1,500-metre race that led her to gold.

The World Tour format for the 2025-26 season will include three individual distances per weekend, along with men’s, women’s, and mixed relays, following its successful debut last season.

Canada will commence their international events with consecutive competitions at the Maurice Richard Arena in Montreal from October 9-12 and 16-19. The arena is also set to host the season-ending ISU Short Track World Championships in March 2026.

Following the Montreal events, the tour will move to Poland and the Netherlands in November.
