“Canada Soccer Faces Uncertainty Over Venue Change Drama”

Canada Soccer is currently awaiting clarification following the issuance of a cancellation notification to ticket-holders for the national team’s planned men’s friendly match against Venezuela on November 18 at Chase Stadium in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Despite the stadium’s cancellation notice, Canada Soccer was informed by the Venezuelan Football Association and the match promoter that the game is still scheduled to take place, deeming the cancellation notice as premature. However, there is a possibility of a venue change being considered. Canada Soccer expressed its willingness to collaborate with all involved parties as the visiting team and is exploring options that will best support the national team’s preparations for the upcoming World Cup. Concerns have been raised regarding the potential impact of a venue change on Canadian supporters who have already arranged travel plans. Both Canada, ranked 28th, and Venezuela, ranked 46th, have preceding fixtures in the November FIFA window. Canada will face 25th-ranked Ecuador at Toronto’s BMO Field on November 10, while Venezuela will play against 44th-ranked Nigeria at Shell Energy Stadium in Houston.
