Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson revealed through a social media update on Monday that they have been preparing around 35 songs for the upcoming Rush tour in 2026. The tour is set to take place from June to September across the U.S., Mexico, and Canada, featuring two shows in Toronto in August.
Following Rush’s final concert in Los Angeles in 2015, hopes for a reunion faded after the passing of renowned drummer Neil Peart on January 7, 2020, following a battle with aggressive brain cancer. Anika Nilles, a German drummer known for her solo work and performances with Jeff Beck, will be joining the band for the upcoming tour.
Since Peart’s passing, Lee and Lifeson have occasionally united on stage for tribute concerts honoring Gordon Lightfoot and Tayor Hawkins of the Foo Fighters. Both musicians, esteemed members of the Canadian Music Hall of Fame, have remained active with side projects. Lee published a memoir in 2023, while Lifeson released two albums with his band Envy of None.
In a departure from their traditional power trio lineup, Lee and Lifeson indicated the possibility of adding a fourth musician for the upcoming Fifty Something tour. They have previously discussed the complexities of performing live, particularly for Lee, who is known for handling bass and keyboard duties in the studio.
