“Max Scherzer Ready to Ignite Blue Jays in ALCS Game 4”

The Toronto Blue Jays are counting on Max Scherzer to bring his usual fiery and competitive self to the mound in Game 4 of the American League Championship Series against the Seattle Mariners on Thursday evening.

Expressing his excitement for the postseason challenge, Scherzer emphasized his eagerness to pitch in such high-stakes games. The 41-year-old ace last pitched during the regular season on September 24 against the Boston Red Sox. This upcoming start will mark his 26th postseason start and 31st appearance overall.

Scherzer and fellow pitcher Chris Bassitt were recently added to Toronto’s ALCS roster after missing the Division Series against the New York Yankees. Bassitt showcased his abilities with a strong relief performance during Monday night’s game against the Mariners.

Anticipating Scherzer’s performance, Bassitt expressed confidence in Scherzer’s ability to execute at a top-notch level. Despite Scherzer’s recent struggles in the postseason, including a winless streak in his last eight starts, the team remains optimistic about his capabilities.

Acknowledging his subpar pitching towards the end of the regular season, Scherzer attributed it to physical issues, including neck pain and previous thumb inflammation that sidelined him earlier in the year. The eight-time All-Star emphasized his determination to overcome these challenges and deliver a winning performance in Game 4.

Having signed a one-year contract worth $15.5 million with Toronto earlier this year, Scherzer is focused on pushing past any setbacks and contributing to the team’s success. Following a convincing 13-4 victory in Game 3, the Blue Jays are aiming to secure crucial wins in Seattle to turn the series in their favor and advance to the next stage of the playoffs.
