Canada’s hit series, “Heated Rivalry,” depicting a secret love story between two male hockey players, has been renewed for a second season. Bell Media announced that the show, created by Jacob Tierney, will return to Crave and HBO Max for additional episodes following its recent surge in popularity on social media platforms.
The series stars Hudson Williams and Connor Storrie as Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov, rival NHL players who develop a clandestine relationship off the ice. “Heated Rivalry” made a strong debut on Crave, becoming its most-watched original series within the first week, although specific viewership figures were not disclosed.
Adapted from the “Game Changers” book series by Rachel Reid, the show’s producers have not revealed details about the direction of the upcoming season. The first season will conclude on December 26.
Internationally, the show has secured distribution deals with Sky in New Zealand and Movistar Plus+ in Spain, while HBO Max will hold the rights in various Asian regions including Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Thailand, and the Philippines. Additional agreements for the show’s broadcast in the UK and other areas are expected to be announced soon.
