Canadians have secured several nominations for the Actor Awards, recognizing outstanding performances in Hollywood films and television/streaming shows. The nominations were unveiled by actors Connor Storrie from “Heated Rivalry” and Janelle James from “Abbott Elementary.”

Seth Rogen and Catherine O’Hara have been nominated for their exceptional leading roles in “The Studio” on Apple TV, a series created by Vancouver-native Rogen. Additionally, Martin Short is competing against Rogen in the leading actor category for his role in Hulu’s “Only Murders in the Building.”

Both “The Studio” and “Only Murders in the Building” are contenders for outstanding ensemble performances in a comedy series. The awards ceremony is set to be live-streamed on Netflix from Los Angeles on March 1.

The Actor Awards, previously known as the SAG Awards, serve as a precursor to the Academy Awards, and the nominations announced on Wednesday could influence the outcome for “One Battle After Another,” which has received a total of seven nominations in various movie categories.

Competing against films like “Frankenstein,” “Hamnet,” “Marty Supreme,” and “Sinners” in the outstanding cast performance in a motion picture category, “One Battle After Another” is leading the pack with its record nominations.

The principal cast members of “One Battle After Another” have also been individually recognized for their outstanding performances. Notably, Leonardo DiCaprio, Timothée Chalamet, Michael B. Jordan, Ethan Hawke, and Jesse Plemons are all nominated for best actor in leading roles.

In the best actress category, Chase Infiniti from “One Battle After Another” is up against actresses like Jessie Buckley, Rose Byrne, Kate Hudson, and Emma Stone for their exceptional performances in various films.

Notably, “One Battle After Another” has made history with its seven nominations, surpassing the previous record of five nominations at the SAG Awards. However, notable films like Joachim Trier’s “Sentimental Value” were not included in the nominations list.

Moving on to television and streaming series nominations, “The Studio” leads with the most nominations, totaling five. This series has been on a winning streak, having previously won multiple Primetime Emmys for comedy.

“The Studio” is also represented in the lead actor and actress categories by Ike Barinholtz and Kathryn Hahn, alongside Seth Rogen and Catherine O’Hara. The series will be competing for outstanding ensemble in a comedy series against other popular shows.

In the drama category, “The White Lotus” has secured the most nominations, including outstanding ensemble. Other notable nominees in this category include “The Diplomat,” “Landman,” “The Pitt,” and “Severance.”

Furthermore, “The White Lotus” has received nominations for actresses Parker Posey and Aimee Lou Wood, as well as actor Walton Goggins. The competition is heating up for the upcoming Actor Awards ceremony, showcasing the best talent in the industry.
