Blue Jays skipper John Schneider shook up the lineup for Game 2 of the World Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Infielder Bo Bichette, who returned after a seven-week absence in Toronto’s Game 1 victory, was on the bench. Isiah Kiner-Falefa started at second base, with Nathan Lukes and Addison Barger filling in for Davis Schneider and Myles Straw in the outfield.
Although primarily a shortstop, Bichette played his first MLB game at second base after being added to the roster before Game 1 due to a left knee sprain. Schneider, during a pre-game press conference, mentioned they were cautious given Bichette’s recent layoff and praised his readiness to contribute when needed.
The pitching duel for Game 2 featured Toronto’s Kevin Gausman against Los Angeles’ Yoshinobu Yamamoto. Schneider also announced that Max Scherzer would take the mound for Game 3 at Dodger Stadium, with Shane Bieber slated for Game 4. If required, the Dodgers would host Game 5, while potential Games 6 and 7 would be held in Toronto.
In Game 1, Bichette had a hit in the first inning and later grounded into a double play. He drew a walk in the sixth inning before being substituted by Kiner-Falefa. Bichette boasted a .311 batting average in the previous season and topped Toronto’s hits chart with 181.
