Kelowna RCMP have reported the arrest and detention of an individual following a fire incident at Knox Mountain Park on Friday. The authorities cordoned off the park, situated in a residential vicinity near downtown, upon the discovery of smoke and flames on the mountainside. Both police and the fire department aided in escorting hikers down the mountain. Despite concerns over high winds, fire crews successfully subdued the flames by 4:45 p.m. PT while maintaining a presence at the scene.
Knox Mountain Park, designated as Kelowna’s largest natural park spanning 3.85 square kilometers just north of downtown, was subject to controlled burning by the city on October 16.
