A juvenile moose found itself trapped in a horse paddock at a ranch in Clinton, B.C., prompting the property owner, Shauna McAllister, to take action. McAllister, a seasoned wildlife handler, noticed the unusual visitor while starting her day with a cup of coffee. Concerned about the safety of the moose and potential highway hazards, she attempted to guide the moose out of the paddock but was unsuccessful.
After reaching out to the B.C. Conservation Officer Service for assistance, officers arrived at the scene. Despite initial efforts to startle the moose with air rifles, the animal remained unmoved. McAllister then took matters into her own hands by approaching the moose and calmly coaxing it to follow her out of the paddock.
With the help of the officers and a Canadian flag as a guiding tool, the moose was successfully led out of the property and into a nearby Crown forest. Reflecting on the unique experience, McAllister described it as a magical moment. The authorities involved emphasized the importance of maintaining a safe distance from wildlife and reporting animals in distress to prevent such incidents in the future.
