“Actor James McAvoy Assaulted at Toronto Bar”

Actor James McAvoy was unexpectedly assaulted by a man at a bar in downtown Toronto late on Monday night. A source close to the actor confirmed the incident, which was initially reported by People magazine. The assault took place at Charlotte’s Room, a bar near the Toronto International Film Festival venue, where McAvoy was punched without any prior warning as he was being escorted out.

Fortunately, McAvoy is reportedly fine following the incident, although it was not reported to the Toronto police. CBC News reached out to Charlotte’s Room for a comment, but they did not respond immediately.

McAvoy is currently in Toronto for the premiere of his directorial debut film, “California Schemin’,” at the film festival. Despite inquiries, the Toronto International Film Festival has not provided a comment on the incident.

With an extensive filmography, McAvoy has starred in numerous movies such as “Atonement,” “The Last King of Scotland,” “Filth,” as well as in M. Night Shyamalan’s films “Split” and “Glass.” Notably, he has portrayed Prof. Charles Xavier in multiple films from the “X-Men” franchise.
