“Alberta Municipal Elections: New Mayors and Councilors Elected”

Unofficial and official election outcomes for municipalities in central and northern Alberta are being unveiled by various townships and regions across the province. Here are the latest results:

In St. Albert, all polling stations have reported in, and Scott Olivieri has been elected as mayor with 57.9% of the votes, with a voter turnout of 30%.

The City of Red Deer announced its official results, with Cindy Jefferies winning the mayoral race and incumbent councilors securing their seats.

Red Deer County had its unofficial results posted early, with Brent Ramsay leading the mayoral race. Several incumbent and new councillors were also declared winners.

Jasper saw re-elected councillors and a new mayor, Richard Ireland, as the acclaimed candidate.

Hinton elected Brian LaBerge as the new mayor-elect and welcomed several new faces to the council.

Sandy Bowman won the mayoral race in the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo, with preliminary results indicating successful candidates for various wards.

Fort Saskatchewan will have a new mayor, Lisa Makin, along with several new and incumbent councilors.

Morinville acclaimed Simon Boersma as mayor and announced councilor-elects in unofficial results.

The County of Northern Lights had familiar faces re-elected, with a plebiscite indicating support for engaging in discussions about a potential nuclear power plant.

In the City of Leduc and Leduc County, familiar faces and new councilors were elected to serve.

The County of Grande Prairie will have returning and new councilors, with Rod Shaigec elected as mayor-elect.

Strathcona County re-elected Rod Frank as mayor and saw most wards won by incumbent candidates.

City of Cold Lake elected Bob Mattice as mayor-elect, and Grande Prairie residents re-elected Jackie Clayton as mayor.

Jeff Acker was voted mayor-elect of the City of Spruce Grove, and Parkland County elected Rod Shaigec as mayor-elect.

Sturgeon County re-elected Alanna Hnatiw as mayor and announced councilor-elects in unofficial results.

High Level elected Josh Lambert as mayor-elect and announced re-elected and new councilors.

Ponoka County had an election in one division, with acclaimed candidates in the remaining divisions.

The M.D. of Greenview will see new and familiar faces on the council, with several newcomers and incumbent candidates winning seats.

Thalia Hibbs is leading the mayoral race in the City of Lacombe, with all new council members expected to join the council.

Lacombe County has re-elected five councilors and introduced two new council members.

The official results will be disclosed on October 24 for most municipalities.
