“Canada to Battle Switzerland in Women’s Soccer Friendly”

Ninth-ranked Canada is set to face off against No. 24 Switzerland in an international women’s friendly match during the October FIFA window. The game is scheduled to take place on October 24 at the Swissporarena in Lucerne. Canada’s coach, Casey Stoney, expressed the team’s commitment to testing themselves against strong opponents in preparation for future success.

Switzerland, known for their impressive performance at the recent Euros and solid defensive strategies, poses a challenge for Canada. Playing on Swiss turf will be a significant test for the Canadian team, providing valuable experience and growth opportunities for upcoming important matches.

In the 2025 UEFA Women’s Championship, Switzerland reached the quarterfinals but was defeated 2-0 by Spain, who eventually became the tournament runner-up. Meanwhile, the Canadian women’s team last played in July, facing a 3-0 defeat against the top-ranked U.S. in Washington, D.C.

Canada holds a 4-1-0 record against Switzerland, with their most recent encounter resulting in a 1-0 victory during the 2015 World Cup round-of-16 match in Vancouver. Looking ahead, Canada will conclude the year with a two-game series against No. 8 Japan on November 29 and December 2 in Nagasaki during the November international window.

Details about a second fixture in the October window are yet to be revealed.
