A member of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) deployed in Latvia has been reported missing since Tuesday, with ongoing investigation and search operations, according to the Department of National Defence. Warrant Officer George Hohl, a vehicle technician from the 408 Tactical Helicopter Squadron in Edmonton, was part of the aviation battalion with the NATO Multinational Brigade in Latvia, as confirmed by Lt.-Gen. Steve Boivin. Hohl was last sighted in Adazi, as per Boivin.
The investigation is being led by Latvian police forces, supported by the Canadian Forces Military Police and the NATO Multinational Brigade, actively conducting search missions utilizing all possible resources, Boivin stated on Thursday. To maintain the family’s privacy and the integrity of the ongoing search and police inquiry, no additional information will be disclosed presently.
Hohl’s next of kin has been informed and is receiving assistance, Boivin added.
