Canada’s Francis Jobin captured a snowboard slopestyle gold medal and earned his first World Cup podium in Aspen, Colo., on Sunday.
The 26-year-old native of Quebec City put together a crisp run in the 16-man final, scoring 79.30 en route to the top of the podium. Yiming Su (78.36) of China and American Sean Fitzsimons (77.43) followed in the 16-man final.
He cleared his first two rails with nearly flawless execution, also landing a switch backside double rodeo 1260 nosegrab to cap a stellar run.
Jobin’s previous best in slopestyle was fourth, and after a seventh-place position following qualification his victory came as an upset.

Liam Brearley (70.10) of Orillia, Ont., finished fifth, Mark McMorris (45.96) of Regina, Sask., was 15th, and Cameron Spalding (43.65) of Havelock, Ont., placed 16th.
Amy Fraser, of Calgary, claimed bronze in freeski halfpipe, earning her first podium of the season.
The 29-year-old recorded a 86.75 score, placing behind winner Zoe Atkin of Great Britain and silver medallist Fanghui Li of China.
Fellow Canadians Cassie Sharpe (fifth) and Rachael Karker (sixth) missed the podium.
