Vancouver Canucks’ Brock Boeser was absent from the team’s recent game against the Washington Capitals in Washington, D.C., citing personal reasons. General Manager Patrik Allvin made the announcement via the team’s social media platforms on Sunday morning without specifying when Boeser would return.
In Boeser’s absence, Jonathan Lekkerimaki stepped up to fill the void in the lineup against the Capitals. Boeser, who has netted three goals in five games for Vancouver this season, notably contributed to the team’s recent victory over Chicago by scoring in the shootout.
The 28-year-old right-winger avoided free agency by signing a lucrative seven-year, $50.75-million US contract with the Canucks in July. Drafted 23rd overall in 2015 by Vancouver, Boeser has dedicated his entire 559-game NHL career to the team, accumulating an impressive record of 207 goals and 237 assists.
