“Flavor Flav Joins USA Bobsled Team for Olympics”

Flavor Flav, aged 66, experienced the thrill of sliding at a speed of 106 kilometers per hour, sparking his interest in the sport. The renowned musician, reality TV personality, and member of Public Enemy has become a fervent supporter of the USA bobsled and skeleton program, being named their official hype man. Following his time at the 2002 Olympic track in Utah, Flav expressed his intention to accompany the team to the Milan-Cortina Olympics in February.

Excited about the partnership, Flav remarked that it surpasses the iconic movie “Cool Runnings,” dubbing it “Coolest Runnings.” During his recent visit with the bobsled and skeleton teams, Flav tested the tracks by riding a bobsled and later attempting skeleton, a high-speed headfirst sport reaching speeds of over 129 km/h for elite athletes.

Although advised to start from a lower point on the track, Flav insisted on a higher starting position, eventually clocking 108 km/h on his second run. U.S. skeleton athlete Dan Barefoot praised Flav’s adventurous spirit and natural skill in the demanding sport.

Known for his involvement in sports events, Flav has previously participated in various sporting activities. He has been seen at Super Bowl events, supporting athletes like discus thrower Veronica Fraley and the U.S. women’s water polo team at the Paris Olympics as their hype man.

The energy and enthusiasm Flav brings to the team have been infectious, with members bonding over shared experiences and high spirits. CEO Aron McGuire expressed USA Bobsled and Skeleton’s excitement in having Flav as an official sponsor, highlighting his genuine passion for sports and the team. Flav plans to continue his involvement in sliding sports by attending a camp in Park City after the Olympics.
