“Hyundai Issues Warning on 2026 Palisade Seatbelt Wiring”

Hyundai has issued a caution regarding the seatbelt system in certain 2026 Palisade models. The seatbelt wiring for the third-row, left-hand side seat in some vehicles may sustain damage when pulled, as per a notification on Transport Canada’s Motor Vehicle Safety Recalls Database. This wiring issue can lead to a misleading seatbelt indicator showing that the seatbelt is fastened when it is not, potentially causing confusion. Failing to wear a seatbelt heightens the risk of injury in the event of a collision.

Approximately 4,203 vehicles in Canada could be impacted by this seatbelt concern. Hyundai will inform affected drivers about the problem through written communication and recommend visiting a dealership for the necessary seatbelt wiring repairs. Alternatively, drivers can check if their vehicle is affected by entering their VIN on Hyundai’s online recall lookup website or by calling 1-888-216-2626.

Earlier this year, Hyundai recalled numerous vehicles in the U.S. and Canada and halted sales of certain new Palisades due to a separate issue that caused some second and third-row power seats to continue moving when they sensed contact with a passenger or object. This recall was prompted by a tragic incident in Ohio where a two-year-old child lost their life.
