“Jimmy Kimmel Honored as Mayor of Dildo, Sparks Reactions”

Late-night TV host Jimmy Kimmel has been honored as the mayor of Dildo, a local service district in Newfoundland, as ABC’s decision to end his Los Angeles-based show has sparked reactions in the small community. Todd Warren, owner of George House Heritage Bed and Breakfast in Dildo, expressed that the town would warmly welcome Kimmel, as he did when featuring the community on his show and campaigning to become its unofficial mayor in 2019.

Following Nexstar Media Group’s termination of airing Jimmy Kimmel Live! on its ABC affiliates in response to Kimmel’s remarks about conservative activist Charlie Kirk’s killing and President Donald Trump, residents of Dildo like Lynette Reid from The Treasure Trove showed support for Kimmel and invited him to visit, emphasizing the value of freedom of speech.

Despite the show’s cancellation, residents remain hopeful for Kimmel’s visit to boost tourism in Dildo, a community that gained international attention through Kimmel’s campaign. While Kimmel has not yet visited, his spotlight on Dildo has significantly impacted local businesses and tourism, according to Warren and Reid, who highlighted the positive effects of Kimmel’s recognition of the community.
