Actor Kiefer Sutherland was taken into custody early Monday following a reported altercation with a ride-hailing driver in Los Angeles, as per authorities. The incident occurred shortly after midnight at the intersection of Sunset Boulevard and Fairfax Ave., near Hollywood Hills.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the 59-year-old Canadian actor, known for his Emmy award-winning performances, allegedly assaulted the driver and issued criminal threats towards them after entering the ride-hailing vehicle. Fortunately, the driver did not sustain any significant injuries requiring medical attention at the scene.

Law enforcement officials arrested Sutherland on suspicion of making criminal threats. He was subsequently released from jail on a $50,000 US bond a few hours later, with his initial court appearance set for Feb. 2, as indicated in jail records.
