“Manitoba Stands Firm: Free COVID-19 Vaccinations to Continue”

Manitoba will maintain its commitment to covering the expenses of COVID-19 vaccinations while some other provinces are moving towards charging residents for the shots. The immunizations are provided free of charge for individuals aged six months and above in Manitoba and will continue to be so, as confirmed by the province. A Manitoba government representative stated, “There are no current intentions to alter Manitoba’s policy.”

This decision contrasts with recent announcements from Alberta and Quebec, where they have decided to discontinue offering free COVID-19 vaccinations to the general public. Instead, both provinces will only fund vaccinations for specific high-risk groups, while others will be required to pay for the shots. The cost per shot will be around $150 to $180 in Quebec and $110 in Alberta.

In Saskatchewan, the plan is to also maintain free COVID-19 vaccination services. Manitoba is gearing up for its fall immunization program, which will include complimentary COVID-19 vaccinations. Further details on this program are anticipated to be released soon.
