The glitzy Hollywood Emmy Awards saw stars from popular TV series such as “The Pitt,” “The White Lotus,” and “Hacks” gracing the red carpet. Seth Rogen, the star of “The Studio,” had a triumphant night, clinching his first-ever Emmy after nine career nominations. Expressing his surprise and gratitude in his acceptance speech, Rogen mentioned that he had never won anything before.
Rogen also secured trophies for comedy directing, shared with his long-time collaborator Evan Goldberg, and outstanding writing for a comedy. “The Studio” entered the awards night with nine Emmys from the previous weekend and added four more wins on Sunday, all personally collected by Rogen, surpassing the previous record for most wins in a season for a comedy series set by “The Bear.”
“Severance” made early waves at the event with Tramell Tillman and Britt Lower each scoring wins for best supporting actor and best lead actress in a drama, respectively. Katherine LaNasa also celebrated her first career win for best supporting actress in “The Pitt.” The medical drama series swept the best lead actor (Noah Wyle) and best drama series categories, overshadowing “The White Lotus.”
Netflix’s “Adolescence” dominated the night with six wins, including best directing in a limited series for Philip Barantini. Owen Cooper set a new record as the youngest male acting winner at the Emmys, while Erin Doherty, Jack Thorne, and Stephen Graham from the show also clinched wins in various categories.
Additionally, Jean Smart and Hannah Einbinder from “Hacks” secured wins for best actress in a comedy series and best supporting actress in a comedy, respectively. Einbinder ended her speech with a political statement against ICE and in support of Palestine.
The night also featured an in memoriam segment honoring notable figures like Malcolm-Jamal Warner and Ozzy Osbourne, and took a more serious tone with a segment addressing the closure of public broadcasting outlets. Host Nate Bargatze kept the show lively with humorous sketches and commentary, engaging the audience throughout the event.
