Nick Reiner, the son of renowned actor-director Rob Reiner and photographer Michele Singer Reiner, has been apprehended after the tragic deaths of his parents at their residence in Los Angeles on Sunday. The bodies of Rob and Michele were discovered by Los Angeles Police Department officers, who later confirmed the deaths as a homicide.
Rob Reiner, known for his role as Mike Stivic in the TV series “All in the Family,” transitioned to a successful career in directing films such as “The Princess Bride” and “This is Spinal Tap.” He met Michele, a photographer, while working on the film “When Harry Met Sally…” together.
Nick Reiner, aged 32, is one of three children born to Rob and Michele. His siblings are his older brother, Jake Reiner, aged 34, and younger sister, Romy Reiner, aged 27. Nick has battled drug addiction since his teenage years, leading to periods of homelessness. He has openly shared his struggles with substance abuse, revealing that he entered rehab for the first time at the age of 15 and underwent multiple rehab stays thereafter.
Nick and Rob collaborated on the film “Being Charlie” in 2016, where Nick wrote the screenplay and Rob directed. The movie, recognized with the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration’s Voice Award, mirrors Nick’s real-life struggles with addiction.
The Los Angeles Police Department stated on Monday that their investigation pointed to Nick as “responsible for their deaths.” Nick was arrested on Sunday night and remains in custody without bail.
