Toyota is issuing a recall in Canada for 70,480 vehicles due to a problem with the instrument panel display that can fail to show crucial information, potentially leading to accidents or injuries, according to Transport Canada’s recent update on the recall notice. The recall, initially announced on Sept. 11, applies to various models such as Venza, Highlander, Tacoma, and GR Corolla, along with select Lexus models, all equipped with a 12.3-inch display.
The issue stems from a software error in the instrument panel that may prevent the display of essential data like vehicle speed, brake system status, and tire pressure warning lights upon vehicle startup. Transport Canada stated that affected owners will receive notification via mail to bring their vehicles to a dealership for a software update on the combination meter. In some cases, the dealer may also inspect and replace the combination meter if necessary.
Toyota Canada has disclosed that impacted vehicle owners will be notified by mid-November through a statement posted on their website last week.
