“Fashion World Mourns: Valentino’s Funeral Draws Global Icons”

Global fashion icons and members of the public gathered on Friday morning to pay their respects to the legendary designer Valentino at his funeral service in Rome, held at the central Basilica di Santa Maria degli Angeli e dei Martiri. Following a two-day public viewing at the Valentino Foundation’s headquarters in Rome, the funeral served as the final tribute to the renowned designer.

Prominent figures in the fashion industry such as Tom Ford, Donatella Versace, and Anna Wintour, alongside Hollywood celebrities like Anne Hathaway, were in attendance at the funeral service. Fans and supporters also congregated outside the church, some adorned in red attire or accessories as a nod to Valentino’s iconic color preference.

Valentino Garavani, who passed away at the age of 93 at his residence in Rome earlier in the week, was revered by generations of prominent figures including royals, first ladies, and celebrities like Jackie Kennedy Onassis, Queen Rania of Jordan, and Julia Roberts. Known as the “last emperor” of Italian fashion, Valentino’s influence extended far and wide, with his exquisite gowns gracing numerous prestigious events, including the Academy Awards.

During the service, Giancarlo Giammetti, Valentino’s long-time partner, expressed gratitude to the designer for imparting a sense of beauty. Reflecting on their shared journey, Giammetti emphasized the enduring impact of Valentino’s aesthetic vision. The ceremony was a poignant moment of remembrance for the fashion world and beyond.
