“Trump Turns on ‘Wacky Marjorie’ Greene in Midterm Clash”

U.S. President Donald Trump has publicly distanced himself from Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, a staunch supporter in the MAGA movement. Trump labeled her as “Wacky Marjorie” and expressed his willingness to back a potential challenger against her in the upcoming midterm elections if the right candidate emerges.

Greene, who was once a prominent figure in Trump’s “Make America Great Again” agenda, notably wore a red cap in support of Joe Biden during the 2024 state of the union address and served as a liaison between Trump and other Republican lawmakers on Capitol Hill.

The recent rift between Trump and Greene seems to mark the culmination of a longstanding disagreement, with Greene appearing to soften her political stance in recent months. The three-term congresswoman has diverged from GOP leadership, criticizing them during the recent government shutdown and advocating for a plan to assist those struggling to afford health insurance.

Accusing Greene of veering “Far Left,” Trump took to social media to denounce her constant grievances, stating that he cannot entertain the incessant calls from someone he perceives as a ranting individual. Greene, in response, accused Trump of attacking and lying about her, citing her efforts to release the Jeffrey Epstein files as the tipping point in their strained relationship.

Trump’s rebuke of Greene comes on the heels of discord following the off-cycle elections, where Democratic victories in New Jersey and Virginia raised concerns about the cost of living among voters.

Greene, in a recent interview with NBC News, criticized Trump for prioritizing foreign affairs over domestic issues, asserting that Americans are more concerned about rising prices at home. Trump fired back, asserting that Greene had deviated from her original stance.

The escalating tension between Trump and Greene has roots dating back to earlier this year when Greene opted not to run for Senate and publicly aligned herself with Tucker Carlson. Despite recent efforts by Greene to broaden her appeal beyond staunch Trump supporters, her standing within conservative circles has come under scrutiny.

As the rift between Trump and Greene deepens, the political landscape in Georgia and beyond may witness significant shifts as the midterm elections draw closer.
