A woman from Florida has been charged with attempted murder and multiple felony offenses after allegedly firing gunshots at Rihanna’s residence in Los Angeles. The incident occurred on Sunday outside the singer’s gated home in Beverly Hills. Ivanna Lisette Ortiz, 35, faces charges that include 10 counts of assault with a semi-automatic firearm and three counts of shooting at an inhabited vehicle or dwelling, all of which are felonies.
According to District Attorney Nathan Hochman, Rihanna, her partner A$AP Rocky, their three children, and her mother were present on the property at the time of the shooting. Ortiz appeared in Superior Court of Los Angeles County before Judge Theresa McGonigle. Her attorney initially entered a not guilty plea on her behalf but later opted to postpone the arraignment to March 25. Ortiz is currently held on $1.8 million US bail.
The judge issued a protective order prohibiting Ortiz from contacting Rihanna, A$AP Rocky, or visiting their home. Ortiz is also forbidden from possessing any firearms or ammunition. Police Chief Jim McDonnell stated that 10 individuals were inside Rihanna’s home during the shooting. It is believed that Ortiz traveled from Florida to the area, although the exact timeline remains unclear.
Ortiz, a licensed speech pathologist residing in Orlando, was apprehended after the shooting, during which a weapon was seized. Authorities have not disclosed any potential connection between Ortiz and Rihanna. Efforts to reach Ortiz’s attorney and Rihanna’s representatives for comments were unsuccessful.
Images from the scene show apparent bullet holes in the front gate of Rihanna’s home. The artist, known for hits like “We Found Love” and “Umbrella,” recently welcomed her third child, Rocki Irish Mayers, with A$AP Rocky in September 2025.
