The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has issued a recall for a batch of No Name frozen beef burgers due to potential E. coli contamination. The affected burgers, packaged in 1.36 kg boxes with a best before date of May 5, 2026, were distributed nationwide.
Consumers are urged to discard the affected product or return it to the place of purchase and refrain from cooking or consuming the burgers. The CFIA warns that food tainted with E. coli O157:H7 may not exhibit visible signs of spoilage but can still cause illness.
Symptoms of E. coli contamination may include nausea, vomiting, abdominal cramps, and watery to bloody diarrhea. In severe cases, individuals may suffer from complications such as stroke or kidney damage. As of now, there have been no reported cases of illness linked to the recall.
While investigations are ongoing, the CFIA cautions that additional products could also be subject to recall in connection with this incident.
