Arcade Fire’s front duo has confirmed the end of their marriage while reaffirming their dedication to the band. The Montreal indie rock band’s Win Butler and Régine Chassagne made the announcement via social media, emphasizing that although they have chosen to separate, their artistic partnership within Arcade Fire will persist.
Butler and Chassagne, who first crossed paths at McGill University during the band’s inception, tied the knot in 2003. The band’s breakthrough came with The Suburbs clinching the album of the year title at the Grammy Awards in 2011.
Back in the day, a piece by Pitchfork featured allegations from four individuals accusing Butler of inappropriate sexual behavior, including unwanted advances. In response, Butler admitted to engaging in extramarital sexual relationships but refuted any wrongdoing, asserting that the encounters were consensual.
Earlier this year, Arcade Fire unveiled their latest studio album, Pink Elephant, and embarked on a tour. In a recent statement, the band expressed that the couple’s mutual respect and support endure as they co-parent their 12-year-old son.
