The Ottawa Redblacks have appointed a new head coach and general manager. Ryan Dinwiddie, previously with the Toronto Argonauts, where he led the team to two Grey Cup victories in five seasons, will now lead the Redblacks. This decision follows the team’s disappointing 4-14 season, resulting in them missing the CFL playoffs and leading to the departure of former head coach Bob Dyce.
In addition to his coaching role, Dinwiddie will also take on the responsibilities of the general manager, succeeding Shawn Burke, who was appointed to the vice-president of football operations role in December 2021. Dinwiddie’s move to Ottawa was a step up from his previous position with the Argos.
The Redblacks’ playoff drought has been ongoing, with the team failing to qualify for the CFL playoffs in five of the last six seasons since their defeat to the Calgary Stampeders in the 2018 Grey Cup.
