Toronto Blue Jays ticket prices for the World Series are skyrocketing and are not expected to decrease anytime soon. The Blue Jays are currently in a face-off against the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 6, generating significant excitement. Despite being considered the underdogs against L.A., the Blue Jays are leading 3-2 in the World Series following a recent victory.
Securing tickets for the upcoming game has proven to be extremely challenging, with prices continuing to rise. Data from Victory Live, a company that tracks secondary-market transactions, reveals that Game 6 tickets are averaging over $2,000 US (approximately $2,800 Cdn), while a potential Game 7 could reach nearly $3,000 US (around $4,200 Cdn) on the resale market. According to Victory Live, prices for Game 6 have been steadily increasing each day since Tuesday.
The escalating ticket costs have disappointed both devoted baseball fans and casual supporters. Some reports have labeled this year’s World Series as the most expensive sporting event ever in Canada. At present, the cheapest ticket available on Ticketmaster is priced at $1,462.50 for a spot in the Rogers Centre outfield district, while the lowest-priced ticket on StubHub is around $1,600.
Comparatively, Game 6 ticket prices are trailing last year’s average resale prices for Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour shows at Rogers Centre, which stood at $2,320 US. However, if Game 7 between the Blue Jays and Dodgers materializes, ticket prices are projected to exceed that amount. The exorbitant prices have prompted Ontario Premier Doug Ford to address the issue, expressing concerns about potential price gouging by ticket resellers. It is noteworthy that Ford’s government previously repealed a law in 2019 that would have restricted ticket resale prices to 50 percent above face value.
