Canada cruised to a 6-0 victory over Zambia in the Round of 16 at the FIFA Women’s U17 World Cup in Morocco, scoring three goals in each half. This win sets up a quarterfinal clash against Brazil. The winner of this match will face either North Korea or Japan in the semifinals. Canada’s goals came from Daniela Feria-Estrada (2), Melisa Kekic, Mya Angus, Chloe Taylor, and Amy Medley. Despite missing a penalty kick, Canada showcased impressive attacking prowess, outscoring opponents 18-2 in their four consecutive wins at the tournament.

Canada’s U-17 team reached the quarterfinals by topping their group with victories over Nigeria, Samoa, and France. Zambia, on the other hand, advanced as one of the four best third-place finishers. In other Round of 16 matches, France upset Spain, Mexico defeated Paraguay, and Japan blanked Colombia.

Zambia, with an all-domestic team, rebounded from earlier losses to claim a 4-0 victory over New Zealand. However, they struggled to break down Canada’s defense in their match.

Canada took the lead through a counterattack, with goals from Feria-Estrada, Angus, and Taylor. Despite a missed penalty, Canada’s dominance was evident as they outshot Zambia 12-10. In the end, Feria-Estrada sealed the victory with a beautiful free-kick goal in the 92nd minute. The match saw an overall strong performance from Canada, showcasing their potential for a successful tournament run.
