Tegan Quin, from the pop-indie group Tegan and Sara, is part of the team of writers for the Marvel Comics pride special one-shot, titled “Wiccan & Hulking: Raid of Ultron #1,” set to be released on May 27. This comic showcases the beloved gay duo Wiccan and Hulkling along with their families, emphasizing the significance of community and relationships during challenging times.
Quin’s contribution, illustrated by Luciano Vecchio, follows the story of twins Wiccan and Speed as they unite to combat Ultron while navigating the differences in their paths as siblings. In a statement on Marvel’s website, Quin expressed her excitement about writing for Wiccan and Speed, characters she found particularly compelling in the Marvel Universe. She described her Marvel debut as a magical experience, drawing parallels between fighting Ultrons in the comic and facing challenges in the music industry.
“Wiccan & Hulking” will also showcase works from writers Wyatt Kennedy, Josh Trujillo, and Zoe Tunnell, alongside artists Rachael Stott, Bradley Clayton, and Stephen Byrne. Based in Vancouver, Quin is also endorsing Loghan Paylor’s novel “The Cure for Drowning” on Canada Reads 2026, a literary event where five Canadian celebrities advocate for a book to be read nationwide through a series of debates and eliminations.
Aside from her musical career with her sister, Quin and Sara have ventured into writing, releasing a joint memoir called “High School” in 2019 and a middle-grade graphic novel series titled “Tegan & Sara: Junior High,” illustrated by Tillie Walden. Furthermore, they established the Tegan and Sara Foundation to provide support and resources for 2SLGBTQ+ communities, earning them the Humanitarian Award at the 2024 Junos.
